Topic: Understanding and Welcoming Transgender Clients: An LGBT Cultural Sensitivity Training Going Beyond Best Practices
Presenters: Mandi Kowalski, Field Organizer, Training Coordinator for PROMO, and
Dan Stewart, MSG, SAGE of PROMO Fund Program Coordinator
Understanding what it's like to be transgender can be difficult, especially if you have never met a transgender person. As a practitioner and healthcare provider, it is essential to be comfortable communicating with, and understanding of clients' needs. Join PROMO, Missouri's LGBT advocacy organization, in a conversation about LGBT language, barriers to care in the transgender community, and how to create welcoming spaces and develop best practices for clients and staff.
08:00 AM - 10:00 AM Central
CenterPointe Hospital Gym 4801 Weldon Spring Parkway St. Charles, MO 63304
CEUs: 1.5 CEUs will be awarded to Missouri Social Workers and Missouri Addiction Counselors at the completion of the lecture. A Certificate of Attendance verifying 1.5 clock hours will be awarded to other disciplines to submit to their respective licensing boards.
