Description:Oppression continues to be a daily part of American culture and barriers experienced by oppressed populations can have an overwhelming impact on their emotional and psychological well-being.  Many persons experience cumulative incidents of oppression as traumatic.  These traumas often manifest functional, emotional and psychological disturbances.  Providers working with individuals from oppressed populations should engage these individuals through a trauma informed lens.
